In this episode we had the opportunity to speak to Rob Young a Retired SUSD Officer and survivor of the January 17, 1989 Cleveland Elementary School shooting in Stockton, Ca. Rob shared the details of that horrific day as a 1st grader on the playground, not fully understanding what was happening. Shared how both him and his friend showed each other their bullet wounds in the middle of all the craziness.
Rob, had a dream even before the school shooting to be in Law Enforcement, and didn't let what happened deter him from that dream. So he went back to work in the School District where he grew up. Rob also shared his experience in another event that just recently happened at a school in Stockton where a female student lost her life. A snippet you need to hear to see how his life came full circle.
With all that happened, Rob has a positive attitude and has used his story to share his thoughts around guns and gun violence. Even making a trip to Capitol Hill to speak and share his story.
